Rustic, industrial, one of a kind. "Cascades" is a 2019-2020 series of sculptures by Hunter Keegan. Recycled and reclaimed mixed media materials were used to create sculptures that contain dozens of freeform, stream of consciousness poems and phrases.
Cascades No. 1 "Prototype" contains dozens of cryptic words and phrases spontaneously emblazoned on note cards and inserted into a large glass jar. The randomized arrangement of cards, and bold, scrawled letters behind deep amber glass call to mind a sense of chaos and urgency.

Cascades No. ? "Unknown" consists of over 50 handwritten poems intricately placed in a large glass jar. Themes of the poems range from love of the natural world, to the jadedness of modern society.
Cascades No. ? "Unknown" was meticulously created, with each poem being carefully inserted with specialized instruments to ensure accurate placement. The result is that several of the poems are closely pressed to the sides of the jar, encouraging viewers to easily read fragments of Keegan's trademark freeform poetry.

Cascades No. 2 "Messenger"
Rustic, industrial, one of a kind. "Cascades" is a 2019-2020 series of sculptures by Hunter Keegan. Recycled and reclaimed mixed media materials were used to create sculptures that contain dozens of freeform, stream of consciousness poems and phrases.
Cascades No. 2 "Messenger" was the last sculpture created for the Cascades series. Completed in Spring of 2020, the sculpture stands apart from the others in the series -- it consists of a clear glass jar juxtaposed with colorful poem cards.
The jar contains approximately 21 of Keegan's poems dating back to July of 2019. The cards were intricately placed in the jar using specialized instruments. The corked top of the jar calls to mind the classic image of a "message in a bottle."
